Person On Tracks Hit, Killed By Lirr Train, Suspending Service

Service on part of the Long Island Railroad has been suspended after a person was struck and killed by a train.

The incident took place around 1:30 p.m., Monday, June 28 at the Oakwood Road railroad crossing in West Hills at Huntington Station, said LIRR officials.

Service is suspended between Hicksville and Port Jefferson in both directions, LIRR said.

The department is working to secure buses, and suggest customers use other branches where possible. 

In addition, the 1:06 p.m. train from Hicksville due in Port Jefferson at 2:11 p.m. has been delayed.

Suffolk County Police said Oakwood Road at West Rouges Pass is closed due to the investigation. 

MTA Police are investigating the incident.
